Welcome to Cape Town Leather, where craftsmanship meets passion. Founded by Nick Midgley and Kirsty Visser, our brand is dedicated to bringing you premium quality leather goods that are locally manufactured with love.
Nick’s roots in the market industry run deep, with his father and grandfather paving the way for him. His love for interacting with customers and vendors ignited his journey in the leather business. It was during a Christmas market exhibition that he stumbled upon a pair of Vellies that would change everything. Recognizing their immense potential, Nick was inspired to create a platform for supporting local businesses and expanding their market base.
Kirsty, on the other hand, experienced a serendipitous encounter with Cape Town Leather as a customer. Instantly captivated by the unparalleled quality and timeless beauty of the products, she couldn’t resist joining forces with Nick. Together, they are infusing their shared passion into every step of building the brand.
At Cape Town Leather, we believe in the power of locally made products. Each item in our range, from the well-priced and hardy Vellies to our expanded selection of leather goods and associated products, is proudly manufactured right here in Cape Town

Nick
My name is Nick Midgley and I am a co-founder of Cape Town Leather. Working in the market industry runs in my blood, as both my father and grandfather worked in the market in Leeds where I grew up. I absolutely love interacting with customers and other vendors at the market.
During one of my exhibitions at a Christmas market, I came across a pair of Vellies that caught my eye. They were reasonably priced, durable, and amazingly comfortable. Intrigued by their potential, I decided to purchase a pair for myself. It didn’t take long for me to realize that there was a huge market for these shoes.
I am passionate about supporting locally made products and helping small businesses expand their reach. What started with the Vellies has now grown into a wide range of leather goods and related products, all proudly manufactured locally.
There’s a saying that goes, “Good shoes will take you to good places,” and I couldn’t agree more.
Kirsty
My name is Kirsty Visser, and I had the pleasure of meeting Nick at one of the local markets. It was there that I discovered the fantastic leather products he was selling, and I immediately fell in love with them.
About a year after my first purchase from Nick, he approached me with an offer to join him at Cape Town Leather. Without hesitation, I accepted his invitation, excited to be a part of building the brand with products that we both deeply care about.
Our goal is for our customers to share the same level of passion and love for our products as we do. We believe in delivering high-quality, locally made goods that people can appreciate and enjoy. Together, Nick and I are committed to making Cape Town Leather a brand that reflects our shared values and dedication.
